The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) officially opens applications for ‘The Masters Series: FDCP Acting Workshop for Filipino Talents 2026’ for all stage and screen performers ready to level up their skills in acting, led by master filmmakers Direk Joey Reyes, Direk Laurice Guillen, and Direk Joel Lamangan.

With character building, vocal mastery, and the director’s vision for actors as its key focus areas, this 12-day intensive workshop provides in-depth training designed to sharpen the participants’ craft in performing and character analysis.

The PH Deepens Industry Ties at Cannes 2026
Description
On the fourth day of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France, the Philippine delegation focused on strengthening international ties, sharing industry knowledge, and engaging in meaningful discussions on potential collaborations and strategic partnerships.

Filipino filmmaker Wilfredo Manalang held an insightful discussion with six Singaporean students at the Pavilion, fostering cultural exchange, critical thinking, and dialogue through cinema.

The FDCP also joined the Asian Film Alliance Network (AFAN) General Assembly alongside representatives from national film agencies and industry leaders across Asia, where the members discussed ways to move forward and the upcoming AFAN Bootcamp for Young Filmmakers and the AFAN Film and TV Summit happening in Manila this August, hosted by the FDCP as this year’s AFAN Host Country. The AFAN Spotlight Sessions. explored the co-production journey behind Sompot Chidgasornpongse’s Thai comedy-drama ‘9 Temples to Heaven,’ and featured the actors of ‘Next Step Studio,’ who shared insights on acting, collaboration, and the evolving landscape of Indonesian cinema.

Description
The delegation stayed active at the Philippine-Singapore Pavilion for the fifth day of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France, holding meetings with potential partners and discussing incentives for co-production opportunities.
The Philippine-Singapore Networking Reception also took place at the Pavilion, bringing together producers from both countries with the presence of the Philippine Ambassador in France, His Excellency Eduardo José de Vega and Vice Consul Miko Cabatingan.
Producer Wilfredo Manalang and Vietnamese director Nguyen Thi Xuan Trang pitched the project ‘Land of Evanescence’ at the Docs by the Sea Showcase, a co-production among the Philippines, Vietnam, and France.
The delegation capped off its 5th day at Cannes 2026 at the Korean Film Night and Hong Kong Night, where attendees connected with fellow industry players, spotlighted authentic stories, and shared their cultures. Korean Film Council chairman Han Sangjun joined the Korean Film Night, further strengthening industry collaboration and championing the future of Asian cinema.

Description
Meetings with festival partners, fellow producers, and potential co-production collaborators marked the 3rd day of the Philippine delegation’s participation at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France.

‘Yellowfin’ by E. del Mundo had its world premiere at the Carlton Hotel as the country’s official entry to the festival’s ‘Immersive Competition’ category.

Filipino filmmakers join the opening of Cannes Docs, with Armi Cacanindin representing the Philippines at the Co-Pro Social Club and the ‘Land of Evanescence’ co-produced by Wilfredo Manalang participating in the Docs by the Sea showcase, as the FDCP is recognized as one of Cannes Docs’ official partners.

Later in the afternoon, the delegation joined Hong Kong Cinema Cannes 2026 for business matching sessions with representatives from Hong Kong, Italy, and Brazil, exploring opportunities for future partnerships.

The delegates also attended a meeting with the Asian Film Alliance Network (AFAN), Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) to strengthen ties and discuss upcoming collaborative initiatives. The FDCP also participated in a working session where film funds and distributors exchanged insights and best practices on strengthening international circulation of films, fostering cultural diversity, and championing stories that transcend borders.
The day ended with the celebration of Taiwan Night, where acclaimed filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda graced the evening with his presence.

Yesterday, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in partnership with Reel to Real through the Special Partnership Program (SPP), held a screening of ‘Pagdating sa Dulo,’ written and directed by National Artist Ishmael Bernal, at the Cinematheque Centre Manila.
Cineastes and film enthusiasts gathered for the screening and stayed for a talkback session with Ronald Baytan, exploring the filmmaking excellence and legacy of National Artist Ishmael Bernal.
The FDCP thanks everyone who joined us for a meaningful look back at Philippine cinema history.

Description
On the 2nd day of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France, the Philippine-Singapore Pavilion hosted a series of meetings with international collaborators and attended conferences, further strengthening global industry connections.
The Philippine delegation participated in the opening celebration of the Producers Network at the Producers Club in Lérins, where three Filipino filmmakers are set to join structured meetings and networking sessions focused on partnerships and co-production opportunities.
Later in the evening, the delegation attended the Marché du Film Opening Night, co-hosted by Japan, with opening remarks from Guillaume Esmiol, Executive Director of the Marché du Film, and Norihiko Ishiguro, Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization, highlighting the growing spirit of international collaboration at Cannes 2026.

Description
The “Making Movies: FDCP x TMTCS Filmmaking Workshop in Central Luzon 2026” successfully gathered aspiring filmmakers and creatives from April 20 to 22 at The Manila Times College of Subic (TMTCS). Organized by the Academic Film Society (AFS) of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the three-day workshop focused on visual storytelling, scriptwriting, and pitching.
Led by award-winning filmmaker Arvin Belarmino, participants gained practical, industry-relevant training to help them develop their own creative projects.
During the closing program, FDCP Chairman & CEO Jose Javier Reyes, shared his insights and encouraged the students to pursue their passion.
Through initiatives like this, the FDCP continues its commitment to nurturing the next generation of Filipino filmmakers and strengthening the local film industry.

Description
That’s a wrap for the first-ever ‘FDCP First Draft! Beginner’s Workshop for Regional Storytellers.’
The five-day intensive workshop explored storytelling through the lens, understanding character psychology, integrating symbolism into scripts, and crafting character development to create rich and compelling stories.
Mentors Kyla Romero and Martika Escobar also conducted one-on-one consultations on story development, helping participants prepare for the concept pitch that served as their culminating activity.
To conclude the workshop, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) presented a roadmap aimed at inspiring the writers to continue their journey, participate in future programs that will further hone their skills, and jumpstart their careers.
This workshop is supported by the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental through its Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism Board.

Description
Isapelikula continues.
The next days of the program were dedicated to revising and refining scripts, with participants exchanging ideas with their mentors and fellow mentees. In their own space, each writer also took time for focused, independent work to fully immerse themselves in their individual project.
FDCP Chairman and CEO Jose Javier Reyes and former FDCP Chairman Tirso Cruz III visited the sessions to share insights and encouragement with the participants.
