SINE KABATAAN‘S 9TH EDITION OPENS ITS DOORS TO YOUNG FILIPINO FILMMAKERS

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) officially opens Sine Kabataan 2026, with applications running from February 7 to March 6, 2026

Now on its 9th edition, Sine Kabataan continues to champion young Filipino filmmakers by providing a platform where fresh voices, bold ideas, and original stories can take shape. The program encourages participants to explore contemporary issues through creative storytelling while building a strong foundation for their journey into the professional film industry.

Twenty (20) story concepts will be shortlisted to participate in a series of film labs led by industry mentors. These sessions are designed to help refine each project and prepare them for production. From these, ten (10) finalists will be selected to receive a Php 200,000 production grant, released in two (2) tranches, to produce their short films.

The completed films will premiere during the Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM) in September 2026, with public screenings that celebrate the creativity, insight, and perspective of Filipino youth.

Filmmakers aged 18–23 years old are encouraged to review the full guidelines, requirements, and application process at fdcp.ph/sinekabataan . Eligible applicants may then complete the online application form and submit all required materials.

Sine Kabataan remains a vital space for young filmmakers to tell their stories, hone their craft,  and learn from respected professionals from the industry, marking an important first step in their filmmaking journey.
The deadline for applications is March 6, 2026.
