FDCP FILLS APRIL WITH NATIONWIDE FILM SCREENINGS AND TALKBACK SESSIONS
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — This April, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) proudly presents a diverse lineup of local and international films through various programs, featuring screenings and talkback sessions across Metro Manila and FDCP Cinematheque Centres nationwide.

I Animate: FDCP Animation Film Festival
Kicking off the month, the I Animate: FDCP Animation Film Festival, in partnership with the Intramuros Administration, brought animation to the forefront with a special outdoor screening on April 11 at Fort Santiago Riverwalk. The event featured six animated short films, offering audiences a preview of the festival program.
The program presented a curated selection of works from SineKabataan, featuring Signal Pending by Lourchielle Hael and All the Time by Anya Zulueta and Dominic Zulueta. It also highlighted films from the 2025 I Animate: FDCP Animation Film Festival, including Blinding Lights by Danica June Sy, Jepoy by Avid Liongoren, Lola Loleng by Che Tagyamon, and CITSALP by Jean A. Evangelista.

Building on this momentum, the I Animate: FDCP Animation Film Festival 2026 runs from April 21 to 25, showcasing a curated selection of local and international animated films. Throughout the festival, audiences can experience stories on love, identity, and belonging at the FDCP Cinematheque Centres in Manila, Davao, Iloilo, and Negros.
Further enriching the program is I Animate x JuanFlix Presents: Lights, Camera, Re-action!, featuring a screening of Avid Liongoren’s Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story on April 22, 2026. The screening will be followed by a film talk with the director and film crew members, Mr. Manny Angeles (co-writer and editor) and Mr. Jether Amar (art director and editor), who will join the discussion and share insights into the film’s production and creative development.

Pelikula ng Bayan: Sine50
Following this, Sine 50: Pelikula ng Bayan showcases Filipino stories shaped by quiet struggles and the realities of Philippine society. The screenings are offered for only PHP 50 at the FDCP Cinematheque Centres in Manila, Iloilo, Davao, and Negros from April 13 to 30, 2026.

FDCP Cinematheque Director Series
On April 15, FDCP launched the Cinematheque Director Series, a monthly program that spotlights the vision and craft of acclaimed Filipino filmmakers. The film screening is followed by a talkback session, offering audiences insight into the director’s creative process.
The opening edition featured the works of Antoinette Jadaone through a double feature of her debut film, Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay, and her latest acclaimed work, Sunshine, which had its first screening at the FDCP Cinematheque Centre Manila.

Mga Hiyas ng Sineng Filipino: Dekada ‘70
Completing the month’s programming, the FDCP, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), presents Mga Hiyas ng Sineng Filipino at the Metropolitan Theatre, a program showcasing landmark works in Philippine cinema.
The screening features Dekada ‘70, directed by Chito S. Roño, based on the novel written by Lualhati Bautista, on April 19, 2026. It is open to the public free of charge.
Through its April film screening programs, the FDCP strengthens access to both local and international films, connecting audiences nationwide with diverse stories, perspectives, and the enduring power of cinema.
