Two (2) films will be featured in the special screening for their relevance on the fight of Korean people for freedom and independence. The opening film Man of Will revolves around Young Kim Chang-Soom who was falsely indicted of the murder of a Japanese man involved in the assassination of Empress Myeongseong. His life in prison aroused his nationalism to fight for Korean Independence as he sees how his fellow Koreans are persecuted.

The Last Princess features the life of the last princess of the Joseon Dynasty in the era of Japanese colonization where she was taken hostage on a foreign land. When all hope is lost, her childhood friend goes on a mission to bring her back to Korea.

Samiljeol (삼일절), commonly known as Korean Independence Movement Day, is a declared national public holiday devoted for successful peaceful protests that happened on March 1, 1919, one of earliest displays of Korean resistance under Imperial Japan.

As part of the year-long celebration of 70th year of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Korea, “Remembering the Heroes” will represent the Korean Independence Movement celebration.
