FDCP, Austrian Embassy Manila to Hold Free Screenings for Austrian SDG Documentary Film Week on FDCP Channel
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MARCH 26, 2022 — In line with Austria’s continuous global efforts to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the Austrian Embassy Manila and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in partnership with the University of Santo Tomas (UST), will hold a film week featuring free screenings of six Austrian documentary films on the FDCP Channel from March 27 to April 2.
The Austrian SDG Documentary Film Week will highlight specific United Nations SDGs with six documentary films that explore discourses on gender equality, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, and life on land. The week-long festival also aims to provide audiences the opportunity to experience the creative diversity and cross-border relevance of Austrian cinema.
“The nature of documentary films being resourceful and informative will be a powerful tool that can influence environmental and social change which is the ultimate goal of this festival. We hope that these documentary films will put things into perspective for our Filipino audiences, to inspire them to discuss the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and for them to appreciate the artistry offered by the Austrian cinema,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño.
The six documentary films can be accessed for free on the FDCP Channel Basic tab from March 27 to April 2:
- Die Dohnal (Johanna Dohnal – Visionary of Feminism) by Sabine Delflinger
- Erde (Earth) by Nikolaus Geyrhalter
- Guardians of the Earth by Filip Antoni Malinowski
