MANILA, PHILIPPINES, JULY 19, 2021 — As a continuation of its efforts to train and upskill industry-specific safety and health officers, the Safe Filming Program of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment-Occupational Safety and Health Center (DOLE-OSHC), is accepting participants for its third batch of the Safety and Health Officers Training Seminar (SHOTS).

Locarno Fest Features PH as Spotlight Country in Open Doors Program

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, JULY 22, 2021 — One competing film, three non-competition titles, and six filmmakers comprise the strong Philippine Delegation to the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland from August 4 to 14.  Held every August since 1946, the Locarno, one of the world’s longest running annual festivals, focuses on auteur cinema where film fans and industry professionals come together to discover new inspiration and transform their passion into cinematic artistry. For its 74th edition this year, set to compete is Carlo Francisco Manatad’s “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon (Whether the Weather is Fine)” in the Concorso Cineasti del Presente (Filmmakers of the Present Competition), a section dedicated to emerging directors from all over the world.

FDCP Continues To Serve The Philippine Film And AV Industry Via Alternative Work Arrangements

Events and programs that are sponsored and partnered by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) may have been postponed in light of the community quarantine and national state of calamity due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). But the FDCP has ensured the continuity of its services by implementing alternative work arrangements composed of a work-from-home setup and an onsite skeletal team.

PH Regional Cinema Goes Online Amid The Pandemic

Everything was set for the various film festivals in the regions that were scheduled this year. Some film fests were about to announce their Call for Entries, while others were already finalizing plans when the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)  pandemic happened. The public health emergency called for the declaration of a national state of calamity, and mass gatherings were prohibited in order to contain the virus. This meant the postponement or cancellation of all film events in the country, including the regional film festivals. 

Production Shoot Registration is Easier Than it Seems!

Don’t be daunted! Although the many forms and requirements under the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) regarding health and safety protocols for audiovisual production shoots may seem intimidating, registering your production shoot is actually easier than it looks!

Out of the nine downloadable forms under the JAO, there are actually only two forms required to be submitted for Safe Filming registration. These are Forms 1 and 3, or the Production Registration form and the Health and Safety Commitment Declaration Form.
