Bela Padilla, together with director Paul Soriano, graced the red carpet at the prestigious 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival to represent “Mañanita” last October 28, 2019. Produced under Ten17P and VIVA Films and penned by award-winning filmmaker Lav Diaz, “Mañanita” is among the eight Filipino films featured in the Festival. The drama-suspense film was given a Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

Inspired by true events, “Quezon’s Game” pays tribute to former Philippine president Manuel Quezon’s heroism of rescuing around 1,200 Jews seeking refuge from the Holocaust. The film is a joint venture production of Star Cinema, ABS-CBN’s streaming service iWant, and Kinetek Productions, and it stars Raymond Bagatsing, Rachel Alejandro, and Kate Alejandrino.

Five (5) Filipino films are set to have their Japan and international premiere at the Osaka Asian Film Festival (OAFF) which takes place from March 8 to 17 in Osaka, Japan.

Filipino filmmakers and actors made the country proud as they represented the Philippines in the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) Red Carpet and Opening Ceremony in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, Japan.

The Philippine delegation for the fourth ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA) bagged three (3) major awards during AIFFA’s Red Carpet Gala Night held last April 27, 2019 at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching, Sarawak in Malaysia. This year, eight (8) Filipino films were shortlisted, and among these, the multi-awarded film “Signal Rock” directed by Chito Roño produced by Regal Entertainment took home the Best Film. “Signal Rock” was also featured in Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 and won the Critics’ Choice Award.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) recognizes the contribution of women in the film industry this International Women’s day in a mini women film festival: “Espacio Femenino: Spanish and Filipino Filmmakers” in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes, Embassy of Spain, and Intramuros Administration.

Cinephiles with a penchant for the macabre are in for a treat as Ngilngig Asian Fantastic Film Festival screens films from October 25 to 29, 2019 in Davao City. With a lineup of 57 short films, the audience can look forward to stories of interesting themes, from those on childhood fears, preserving town tales and superstitions, and archiving dreams and imaginations.

To complete its final slate of films, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP)’ Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) is extending the deadline for submission of finished films or films in post-production stage until June 15, 2019.

Remaining true to its goal of helping regional cinema flourish and making filmmaking more accessible in the regions, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) continues to hold filmmaking workshops through FDCP Film School: The Future of Philippine Cinema. The Agency will hold sessions under the Film Development Support Division (FDSD) starting October 19, 2019 at the Cinematheque Centre Davao in Davao City.

Cinemalaya 2018’s Best Film for the full-length category Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon directed by Carlo Enciso Catu and Cinemalaya 2018 finalist School Service directed by Louie Ignacio took home major prizes at the recently concluded 39th Fantasporto-Oporto International Film Festival in Porto, Portugal that ran from February 19 to March 3, 2019.
