The #FutureSilentFilmmakers Viral Video Contest encourages and challenges the youth to create a one (1) minute silent short film set to one of the five (5) original soundtracks especially composed for the competition. The future silent filmmakers will post their public entries using their social media accounts mainly on Tiktok and Instagram, using the hashtag #FutureSilentFilmmakers2021. The #FutureSilentFilmmakers Selection Committee will choose The 1st prize winner who will receive PHP 10,000.00; 2nd prize, PHP 8,000.00; 3rd Prize, PHP 5000.00; and 20 Audience Choice Awardees who will stand to gain PHP 2000.00 each, on the culminating night of the 15th International Silent Film Festival in November 2021.

 

GUIDELINES:

1. The #FutureSilentFilmmakers Viral Video Contest is open to: 

• Young Filipino amateur filmmakers and content creators;

• Aged sixteen (16) and below, with parental consent;

• with Tiktok and/or Instagram accounts set to public and are permissible for posting of entries.

 

2. The Future Silent Filmmakers must create an original one-minute short film using one of the five (5) pre-recorded musical soundtracks created for the contest. An entry must only use one music from the soundtrack. Other sound effects or music cannot be used and will be grounds for disqualification.

3. All eligible entries must be posted on Tiktok and/or Instagram with a public setting using the hashtag #FutureSilentFilmmakers2021. 

 

4. Entries may be in black and white or colored, live-action or animation, and must be appropriate for the general audience. 

 

5. All terms and conditions of the social media platforms regarding creative direction are applicable. Any violation on the part of the participant will not be covered by the festival organizers and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

 

6. Only entries submitted from September 1, 2021 to November 15, 2021 will be considered.

 

7. One (1) winner will be chosen by the #FutureSilentFilmmakers Selection Committee under the following criteria: 

• 60% for creativity and clarity of the storytelling; 

• 20% appropriateness of the usage of the provided music and original visuals; 

• 20% viral quality.

 

8. The winner of the viral video contest will be awarded at the 15th International Silent Film Festival Manila. The winner must submit a signed and completed Parental Consent Form when claiming his/her prize. He/She must also submit a Parental Consent Form of the filmmakers and actors involved in the chosen video who are under eighteen (18) years old.
 

9. The use of original literary sources, music materials, artwork, photography, etc. must have proper clearance from their respective copyright owners before they can be used in the final output. The Festival organizers shall not be liable for any costs related to claims of performing rights organizations.

 

10. In case of any violation of the guidelines and rules, the organizers and the Selection Committee reserve the right to disqualify the participant and their entries.

 

11. The organizers and the judging committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant and/or to forfeit any prize from a participant who is found to have committed plagiarism or has undertaken fraudulent practice and/or activities harmful to the Festival or the Festival submission process.

 

12. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and irrevocable. The organizers and the Selection Committee are not obliged to give explanations for the results.
