THE PHILIPPINE FILM INDUSTRY MONTH 2022 OFFICIALLY BEGINS!

By virtue of Presidential Proclamation 1085, signed in 2021, the month of September is declared as the Philippine Film Industry Month to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the stakeholders of the industry.

The month-long celebration led by the Film Development Council of the Philippines held its opening ceremony at the Ayala Malls Trinoma Cinema 6 last night, September 2, with a special screening of the newly-restored version of “The Moises Padilla Story” by National Artist for Film Gerardo De Leon.

Hosted by TV actress and host Dianne Medina, the public event was attended by leading and respectable names in the industry including new National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, filmmaker, University of the Philippines professor emeritus, and Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) secretary Dr. Nicanor Tiongson, film archivist Teddy Co, professor and book author Nick Deocampo, cinematographer and director Dik Trofeo, the family of the late actor Leopoldo Salcedo, and FDCP Chairman and CEO Tirso S. Cruz III.

A special Cinema Books Expo also happened during the event hosted by the Philippine Film Archive and attended by leading publishing houses in the country.
