PHILIPPINE FILM INDUSTRY MONTH OFFICIALLY OPENS WITH THE PREMIERE SCREENING OF RESTORED ‘TINIMBANG KA NGUNIT KULANG’

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) officially opened this year’s Philippine Film Industry Month on September 4, 2026 at the Shangri-La Red Carpet Cinemas, featuring the local premiere of the 4K restored version of National Artist for Film Lino Brocka’s ‘Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang’ (Weighed But Found Wanting).

FDCP Chairman and CEO Jose Javier Reyes formally opened the event and shared the significance of ‘Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang’ to the Second Golden Age of Philippine Cinema, the theme of PFIM 2026. He also highlighted how the film helped bring Filipinos back to watching local films.

Due to public demand, the FDCP and Shangri-La also opened Cinema 2 to accommodate more audiences.

The film’s cast Christopher de Leon, Laurice Guillen, together with Sonia Roco, wife of the late producer Raul Roco, and members of the Brocka family, joined the public for the much-awaited premiere.
