Berlinale Co-Production Market Opens Call for Filipino Producers for Visitors Programme 2022

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 28, 2021 —  The Berlinale Co-Production Market of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), through the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), has opened the call for applications for the Visitors Programme 2022 for Filipino producers. 

Now in its third year of participation at the Berlinale Co-Production Market, FDCP will select producers who will participate in the onsite market in Berlin to gain insight into the international co-production landscape and expand their network globally. 

Eligible applicants include producers with projects in development and may submit the following to [email protected] on or before January 3, 2022:

All requirements must be submitted in separate PDF documents. 

The Visitors Programme will hold informative sessions, inspiring pitches, and productive networking platforms from February 12 to 16, to introduce the filmmakers to the international market and the funding opportunities. 

Participants in the Visitors Programme 2022 will be given exclusive access to the Visitors Meet and Match, Visitors Consultation Corner, Theme Talks, Speed Matchings, Books at Berlinale, and Country Sessions. Additionally, selected producers will receive a European Film Market (EFM) Badge, which grants access to EFM’s Industry Sessions and an additional meeting space. 

For the onsite participants, the selected filmmakers will each receive 1,000 euros as allowance, plus accommodation for the duration of the event (inclusive dates to be announced). The grant does not cover travel costs to Berlin.

For the Country Session, FDCP will represent the country and share its current FilmPhilippines incentive programs: the Film Location Incentive Program (FLIP) for international productions filming in the Philippines, International Co-production Fund (ICOF) for foreign productions co-producing with the Philippines, and ASEAN Co-Production Fund (ACOF) for Southeast Asian productions co-producing with the Philippines with a director of Southeast Asian nationality.

The Berlinale Co-Production Market, Berlinale’s service and networking platform for producers and financiers involved in international co-productions, ensures the creative and professional atmosphere of the Visitors Programme by offering a central meeting place, information program, pre-selected projects, reliable business contacts, and numerous networking opportunities. 

The 19th Berlinale Co-Production Market will take place on February 12 to 16, 2022 while the 72nd Berlinale will be on February 10 to 22, 2022, as an in-person event.
